History & Milestones
A Journey of Science, Service, and Sustainable Impact (2009–Present)
The Asian PGPR Society for Sustainable Agriculture was founded in 2009 with a clear and forward-looking vision: to advance Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) and plant microbiome science as core drivers of sustainable, resilient, and farmer-centric agriculture. Recognizing the growing ecological, economic, and social challenges confronting conventional agriculture, the Society was conceived as a science-led, collaborative platform capable of bridging research, policy, industry, and the farming community.
From its inception, the Society adopted a uniquely Asia-rooted yet globally connected identity, and was formally registered in both India and the United States in 2009, enabling it to operate as an international professional body with global reach and regional relevance.

Legacy and Continuing Mission
Over more than a decade and a half, the Asian PGPR Society has evolved from a visionary scientific initiative into a globally respected platform influencing research, practice, and policy in sustainable agriculture. Its journey reflects a consistent commitment to:
• Scientific excellence
• Collaborative leadership
• Farmer-centric innovation
• Environmental stewardship
As agriculture faces unprecedented challenges from climate change, soil degradation, and resource constraints, the Society remains steadfast in its mission to harness plant–microbe interactions and biological solutions to build resilient, productive, and sustainable food systems for future generations.
