Farmer & Outreach Programs

Bringing Science to the Soil, Empowering Annadatas

The Asian PGPR Society for Sustainable Agriculture places farmers (Annadatas) at the heart of its mission. Our Farmer & Outreach Programs are designed to translate advanced plant–microbe science into practical, affordable, and scalable solutions, ensuring that innovations in PGPR, endophytes, and BioAg technologies reach the field where they matter most.

The Society firmly believes that sustainable agriculture can only succeed when farmers are informed, empowered, and actively engaged in the innovation process.

Our Outreach Philosophy

Science That Serves Farmers

Our outreach approach is guided by four core principles:

• Farmer-first: Listening to farmers' needs, challenges, and experiences
• Field-ready science: Practical, evidence-based solutions over theory
• Two-way learning: Scientists learn from farmers as much as farmers learn from science
• Inclusivity: Special focus on small and marginal farmers, women, and rural youth

Key Farmer & Outreach Initiatives

1. Maha Kisan Mela

A Landmark Farmer-Centric Initiative

The Maha Kisan Mela is the Society's flagship outreach program and one of the largest science-driven farmer engagement platforms in the BioAg space.

Key Features

• Direct interaction between farmers, scientists, policymakers, and industry
• Live demonstrations of PGPR, BioAg inputs, and regenerative practices
• Sessions on soil health, plant health, climate resilience, and residue-free farming
• Industry exhibitions and innovation showcases
• Recognition of progressive farmers through Rythu Ratna and Abhyudaya Awards

Impact

• Participation of 5,000+ farmers
• Engagement of scientists, extension officers, NGOs, startups, and companies
• National recognition as a unique science-to-soil initiative

2. Farmer Training & Capacity Building

The Society conducts hands-on training programs to strengthen farmer understanding and confidence in biological agriculture.

Training Focus Areas

• PGPR and microbial inoculant use
• Soil health restoration and nutrient efficiency
• Organic, natural, and regenerative farming practices
• Integrated disease and stress management
• Climate-smart agriculture and water stewardship

These programs are delivered through field demonstrations, workshops, and interactive sessions in collaboration with universities, KVKs, NGOs, and extension systems.

3. Field Demonstrations & Success Stories

To build trust and adoption, the Society promotes:

• On-farm demonstrations of BioAg technologies
• Documentation of farmer success stories
• Peer-to-peer learning among farmers

Real-world evidence from farmers' fields is a cornerstone of our outreach strategy.

4. Women & Youth Empowerment

Recognizing the critical role of women and youth in agriculture, the Society supports:

• Women farmer and agripreneur engagement
• Youth-focused training, mentoring, and leadership opportunities
• Exposure to agri-innovation, BioAg startups, and entrepreneurship

5. Extension & Institutional Collaboration

The Society works closely with:

• State and central agricultural departments
• SAUs, ICAR institutes, and KVKs
• Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs)
• NGOs and civil society organizations

These partnerships help scale outreach efforts and ensure localized, context-specific solutions.

Farmer Voices into Policy

Insights and feedback gathered through outreach programs—especially the Maha Kisan Mela—are systematically synthesized and shared with policymakers. This ensures that farmer realities directly inform policy recommendations, closing the loop between science, practice, and governance.

Our Commitment to Farmers

The Asian PGPR Society is committed to:

• Respecting farmers' knowledge and lived experience
• Providing science-backed, economically viable solutions
• Supporting long-term soil health and farm profitability
• Building resilience against climate and market uncertainties

Farmers are not beneficiaries alone—they are partners in innovation and sustainability.
