About the Asian PGPR Society for Sustainable Agriculture

The Asian PGPR Society for Sustainable Agriculture (AsianPGPR) is a globally recognized, science-driven professional organization dedicated to advancing Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR), endophytes, plant microbiomes, and biological solutions for sustainable and resilient agriculture. The Society was founded and formally registered in both India and the United States in 2009, reflecting its unique identity as an Asia-rooted, globally connected scientific platform.

Since its establishment, the Society has served as a catalyst for innovation and collaboration at the interface of plant–microbe science, agricultural practice, policy, and industry. It brings together a diverse international community of scientists, academicians, policymakers, industry leaders, startups, extension professionals, students, and farmers, united by a common goal: translating cutting-edge microbiome research into practical, scalable, and farmer-centric solutions.

A Bridge Between Science and the Soil

The Asian PGPR Society was founded on the belief that biological solutions hold the key to the next phase of agricultural transformation. At a time when conventional agriculture faces mounting challenges—soil degradation, biodiversity loss, climate variability, declining input efficiency, and rising production costs—the Society promotes PGPR and microbiome-based technologies as science-backed alternatives that enhance soil health, plant health, productivity, and environmental sustainability.

Through its activities, the Society actively promotes:

• Reduced dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides
• Restoration of soil microbial diversity and ecosystem functionality
• Improved nutrient-use efficiency and crop resilience
• Climate-smart and regenerative farming systems

Global Leadership and Knowledge Exchange

Over the years, the Asian PGPR Society has established itself as a leading international forum for scientific exchange and thought leadership in biological agriculture. It has successfully organized multiple Asian PGPR International Conferences across several countries in Asia, in addition to national and regional chapter conferences, workshops, and training programs. These platforms have played a critical role in shaping research directions, fostering public–private partnerships, and accelerating the adoption of BioAg innovations.

The Society also supports national and regional chapters, enabling localized engagement while maintaining a strong global scientific network. Through these chapters, the Society facilitates region-specific research dialogue, farmer outreach, and capacity building.

Farmer-Centric and Policy-Relevant

A defining strength of the Asian PGPR Society is its farmer-first philosophy. The Society believes that science must ultimately serve the Annadata. Flagship outreach initiatives—such as the Maha Kisan Mela—have demonstrated the Society's commitment to bringing global science directly to farmers, enabling two-way learning between researchers and the farming community.

In parallel, the Society functions as a policy-relevant knowledge platform, providing evidence-based recommendations aligned with national and global priorities, including:

• Organic and natural farming missions
• Digital agriculture and innovation ecosystems
• Climate resilience and carbon-smart agriculture
• Food and nutritional security
• Vision 2047 and long-term agricultural sustainability

A Vision for the Secondary Green Revolution

Guided by strong scientific leadership and a global network of experts, the Asian PGPR Society champions a Secondary Green Revolution—one driven not by increased chemical inputs, but by biology, knowledge, collaboration, and sustainability. By integrating microbiome science, innovation, policy engagement, and farmer empowerment, the Society continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of sustainable agriculture in Asia and beyond.
